Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Upgrades Guide - Cover Image Upgrades Menu

Our Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Upgrades guide will tell you how Upgrades work, what they cost, and which Upgrades are the best to take first!

As with other auto-shooters, a big part of your character's strength in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor depends on buying permanent Upgrades in between your runs. These Upgrades can make your Weapons more powerful and allow you to survive the higher Hazard Levels of the planet's deadly Biomes. Read on to learn more!

How Upgrades Work in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor

Upgrades in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor will give you a permanent boost to core stats such as Critical Chance or Luck, regardless of which Class you're playing or which Biome you're diving into. These upgrades aren't strictly necessary to survive Hazard Level 1, but you'll certainly need them to survive the higher Hazard Levels.

You can purchase these permanent Upgrades in between dives. Every Upgrade costs Credits (which are earned after every dive, successful or not) and a certain amount of a specific resource such as Bismor or Jadiz. Each Upgrade uses the same resource for each subsequent level.

The Upgrades menu also allows you to buy resources for 400 Credits each or sell them for 200 Credits each. This will allow you to sell excess resources (especially once you've finished a particular Upgrade tree) and focus on powering up one specific bonus.

Best Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor Upgrades to Take First

The best Upgrade to take first in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is Fast Learner which gives you a bonus to XP Gain. Higher XP Gain means that you'll be able to level up your dwarf faster and get more powerful weapons.

Focusing on XP Gain also has the side effect of helping you level up your Classes faster; this will give you quicker access to new Weapons as some of them are tied to reaching certain Class Level milestones.

Aside from XP, it's a good idea to focus on Heavy Bullets (for Damage), Upgraded Armor (for Armor), and Me Lucky Charms (for Luck); these three particular stats are especially valuable and can give you useful benefits for relatively little cost.

Finally, I would advise that you put at least one point into First Aid Kit; this gives you a small amount of Life Regen and can make the difference between life or death across an entire run.
