This guide shows you the full Enshrouded map for the Early Access launch version of the game with all Flame Shrine and Shroud Root locations we've found!

The Early Access launch version of Enshrouded only has roughly one-third of the final map available, but there's still a lot of ground to cover. This guide will show you where to find the essential locations for crafting, building, and more -- read on to see the full map!

Full Enshrouded Map

Enshrouded Map Guide - Fully Revealed Early Access Map Showing Cinder Vault Ancient Spire Ancient Obelisk Elixir Well Flame Shrine Flame Sanctum and Shroud Root v2

The above Enshrouded Map shows you the location of the Cinder Vault (the starting area on the bottom left) along with every Ancient Spire, Ancient Obelisk, Elixir Well, Flame Sanctum, Flame Shrine, and Shroud Root we've found so far.

Keep in mind that only 35% or so of the total planned area of the final version of the game is available for the early access launch; you can only go so far north before you hit a border that forces you to turn around. Similarly, trying to go past any of the other map borders will force you to turn around.

It's also important to note that you won't be able to get into every part of the Shroud in the early game -- you'll need to upgrade your Flame in order to survive the tougher Shroud areas!

Ancient Spire Locations

You can see the Ancient Spire locations on the above map -- the icons yellow diamond icons marked with a red tower. There are a total of 5 Ancient Spires on the Early Access version of the map.

Shroud Root Locations

The Shroud Root locations are marked by the purple diamonds on the above map. Some of these locations are Elixir Wells which is a dungeon within the Shroud; they will have a Shroud Root somewhere near the end, and often come paired with a boss encounter of some type.

Flame Altar Locations

The Flame Altar locations are marked by the light yellow diamonds with a fire in them.

Enshrouded Map Size

The Enshrouded map size in early access is approximately 24 square kilometers according to a Discord message from one of the moderators. It appears that the current map is roughly 8 kilometers wide by 3 kilometers high.

The final map is planned to be 64 square kilometers, or roughly 8 kilometers by 8 kilometers.

Is the Enshrouded Map Random?

No, the Enshrouded Map is not random; it is a hand-crafted map that is the same for all players.

How to Fast Travel

You can fast travel in Enshrouded by left-clicking on the Cinder Vault, one of your bases, or an Ancient Spire and selecting "Fast Travel." You cannot Fast Travel while you are in the Shroud.

Based on our team's experience, taking damage while attempting to Fast Travel can interrupt the process. However, we've also encountered situations where taking damage doesn't stop you from teleporting. Regardless, it's probably a good idea to get to a safe location before attempting to Fast Travel -- you have to stand still for a few seconds to teleport and you're incredibly vulnerable during that time.

Finally, here's one important tip: it's a good idea to place your bases at the highest elevation possible and build towers as tall as you can. Having access to greater heights will allow you to travel farther with your Glider.

Enshrouded Biomes

  • Springlands & Low Meadows: This peaceful, hilly area is filled with the ruins of civilization and mildly challenging enemies. You'll find most of the basic resources you need to get started in this area.
  • Revelwood: A massive forest filled with poisonous creatures, Revelwood is where you'll start to get your hands on real workable metal such as Copper. Explore this area thoroughly and you'll go beyond equipment made from salvaged scrap.
  • Nomad Highlands: This savannah-like area is filled with dangerous creatures -- and even greater treasures. You'll find Tin and other useful materials here.
  • Kindlewastes: The hot fiery deserts of the Kindlewastes have little in natural resources and plenty of danger. The best resources are available here -- but so are the most challenging enemies.

Notable Locations in Enshrouded | Every Map Icon Explained

Here are the notable location types that you can find in the game along with their associated icons on the map.

Abandoned Town

Enshrouded Map Guide - Blue Village Icon.jpg Abandoned Towns are typically occupied by Scavengers or similar enemies. They will have loot appropriate for the zone; for example, exploring an Abandoned Town in Revelwood gives you the chance to find Copper Bars.

Generally speaking, Abandoned Towns are also a good source of Metal Scraps and other loot in the early game. You should definitely take the time to carefully explore them so you can better equip your character for the challenges ahead!

Ancient Obelisk

Enshrouded Map Guide - Red Ancient Obelisk Icon Ancient Obelisks will reveal the location of nearby Flame Sanctums and Flame Shrines. In short, visiting an Ancient Obelisk is a shortcut to finding more Sparks quickly.

Aside from their gameplay function, the Ancient Obelisk also tells you a bit of lore about the world.

Ancient Vault

Enshrouded Map Guide - White Temple Icon Ancient Vaults are where you can find Craftspeople NPCs. There are a total of five Ancient Vaults in the Early Access launch version of Enshrouded.

These Ancient Vaults also share the icon with "White Temples," a point of interest that can be found elsewhere on the map.

Base

Enshrouded Map Guide - Yellow Cinder Vault and Base Icon Any base that you place in the world will be represented by a red flame inside of a yellow diamond. You can Fast Travel to a Base at any time as long as you're not in the Shroud.

Your Bases share an icon with the Cinder Vault, the starting location of your adventure in the world of Embervale.

Black Tomb

Enshrouded Map Guide - Black Temple Icon Black Tombs are a dangerous point of interest that is somewhat rarer than others.

These points of interest share an icon with Sun Temples.

Cave Passage

Enshrouded Map Guide - Black Cave Icon Cave Passages are the entrance to an underground area. There are often multiple ways in and out of these underground areas, some of which will be marked on the map as other Cave Passages.

You should expect to encounter at least some Shroud areas if you go into a Cave Passage. After all, the Shroud tends to occupy areas at lower elevations and you're heading underground!

Cinder Vault

Enshrouded Map Guide - Yellow Cinder Vault and Base Icon The Cinder Vault is the starting spawn point of Enshrouded; it is located in the southwest portion of the map. Once you exit the Cinder Vault, you will always be able to Fast Travel back to this location (as long as you're not in the Shroud).

The Cinder Vault shares an icon with your bases.

Elixir Well

Enshrouded Map Guide - Purple Shroud Root and Elixir Well Icon An Elixir Well is an area that is typically deep within the Shroud. They typically have a miniboss at the bottom and you'll often find a Shroud Root as well, so they're always worth exploring.

Elixir Wells share an icon with Shroud Roots.

Farm

Enshrouded Map Guide - Green Farm Icon Farms are somewhat similar to Abandoned Villages with one key difference: you have a high chance of finding plants for the biome that you're in. For example, visiting a Farm in the Springlands is a good place to find Tomato and Corn.

Generally speaking, Farms are usually safer than Abandoned Villages. Some Farms can have enemies within them, though, so don't assume that they're safe until you've thoroughly explored the area!

Flame Sanctum

Enshrouded Map Guide - Yellow Flame Shrine Icon A Flame Sanctum is essentially the same thing as a Flame Shrine with one key difference: Flame Sanctums have a Flame Shrine protected inside a dedicated building.

Flame Sanctums share an icon with Flame Shrines.

Flame Shrine

Enshrouded Map Guide - Yellow Flame Shrine Icon Flame Shrines are the place to go if you're looking for a Spark. Sparks can respawn, but it may be easier to visit multiple Flame Shrines if you're looking to collect Sparks in quantity.

Both Flame Shrines and Flame Sanctums use the same icon on the map.

Green Camp

Enshrouded Map Guide - Green Camp Icon Green Camps are camps that have clearly been abandoned for some time. You should expect to find tents and open areas as opposed to buildings.

Generally speaking, Green Camps tend to be safer than Red Camps. It's still possible to find enemies in or near Green Camps, though, so be careful when you're exploring them!

Hollow Halls

Hollow Halls Map icon for Enshrouded Hollow Halls are a new type of dungeon added in Update V 0.7.1.0. These challenging new dungeons go deep underground and are filled with numerous undead enemies.

You should expect to spend at least an hour or two in a Hollow Halls dungeon. They can be pretty tough to survive, so make sure to bring plenty of supplies!

Mine

Enshrouded Map Guide - Mine Icon As you might expect, Mines are a good place to find ore. The name of a Mine will typically tell you what sort of resource you can find inside.

Mines are often located in or near the Shroud. You should expect to spend an extended amount of time in the Shroud if you go into one!

Red Camp

Enshrouded Map Guide - Red Camp Icon Red Camps are collections of tents and ramshackle structures that are often occupied by hostile (and often intelligent) enemies. You should go in expecting a battle.

Generally speaking, Red Camps are far more dangerous than Green Camps.

Shroud Root

Enshrouded Map Guide - Purple Shroud Root and Elixir Well Icon Shroud Roots are growths that are propagating the Shroud throughout the world. Destroying a Shroud Root will award you a Skill Point, so you should always take the time to destroy them.

Shroud Roots share an icon with Elixir Wells.

Sun Temple

Enshrouded Map Guide - Black Temple Icon Sun Temples are special locations to the southeast of the map that are explored as part of a quest in the later game.

The Sun Temples share an icon with Black Tombs.

White Tomb

Enshrouded Map Guide - White Temple Icon White Tombs are somewhat rarer locations that you can explore.

Ancient Vaults and White Tombs share an icon.
