Frictional Games has released a Halloween update for Amnesia: The Bunker, and it's the survival horror game's biggest update yet, according to the developer.

Two new game modes have been added in this update: Shell Shock Mode and Custom Mode.

Randomized corpses are just one of the new challenges you'll face in Amnesia: The Bunker's Halloween update.

As you've probably guessed, Shell Shock Mode is an extra-challenging option that will give you "the most hardcore experience" you can get from the game.

New features in Shell Shock Mode include more unpredictable Stalker behavior, randomized lockers, and the Fuel Storage door being locked, along with a number of other nasty surprises.

The Custom game mode, meanwhile, allows you to tweak more than 30 gameplay options so that you can have the Amnesia: The Bunker experience that works best for you.

As well as these two new modes, a couple of neat extra features have also been added in the Amnesia: The Bunker Halloween update.

A new Training Grounds map will allow you to hone your skills and practise your strategies, but you'll have to complete the game once to access it.

You'll also find that 120fps is now supported on PC, giving you an extra silky-smooth experience.

Lots of gameplay tweaks and improvements have also been implemented, so make sure to read through the full patch notes to get a sense of what you can expect.

Amnesia: The Bunker is the latest game in Frictional's Amnesia series, which began with 2010's Amnesia: The Dark Descent.

The first sequel to that inaugural entry came in the form of Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs, created by The Chinese Room. You'll get to see more of that studio's work in Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

Following that, Frictional returned to the franchise for Amnesia: Rebirth in 2020, then reimagined the series' core formula for The Bunker, which incorporates open-world and immersive sim elements.

You can pick up Amnesia: The Bunker right now on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox consoles. The Halloween update is also out now.

In his review of Amnesia: The Bunker, our very own William Worrall praised its genuine tension and immersion, but criticized its occasional bugs, awarding the game 9 out of 10.
