To celebrate National Puppy Day (we didn't know either, but aww), developer Moonlit and House Flipper publisher Frozen District have announced a new project. Dog Trainer is a canine raising simulator that pledges to bring all the joys and challenges of raising a doggo to your PC.

Moonlit founder Michał Gardeła says that Dog Trainer was primarily inspired by his "joyful" border collie Sir Miles Von Vet. Gardeła says that none of the dog-raising games currently on the market manage to simulate the real challenges of dog ownership, so he and his team set out to create one that does. Raising a dog should be "hard, but extremely rewarding work", according to Gardeła, so that's what you can expect from Dog Trainer. Check out the launch trailer:

If you're getting strong Nintendogs vibes from this project, you're not the only one, but Dog Trainer looks a little more in-depth than Nintendo's pet sim. You'll raise your dog from puppy to adult, training and taking care of your pet all the way. Of course, you'll be able to customize your doggo and give them lots of cool-looking accessories and costumes, too. Dog Trainer will also feature competitions in which you can enter your pup, including beauty shows, obedience tests, and agility contests. You will, however, have to take care of your dog and make sure they're fit and healthy. If you're a dog lover, this one looks essential. Here's a list of things you can do courtesy of a Dog Trainer press release:

  • Use an advanced generator with multiple customizations to create the dog of your dreams.

  • Watch him (or her) grow from a clueless pup to a smart and skilled adult dog.

  • Take care of your pet: feed him, comb his fur, take him for walks… there is a lot to do around a pet!

  • Teach him cool tricks, from basic commands to advanced acrobatic moves!

  • Give him some style with hundreds of awesome costumes and accessories.

  • Train with your pet and help him win competitions, including agility, obedience, and beauty shows.

  • And most importantly – bond with your friend for life!

Dog Trainer will launch for PC via Steam soon; Moonlit and Frozen District say they'll be announcing a release date shortly. In the meantime, if you just can't wait for more info about Dog Trainer, you can follow the dev's Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts for more info.
