Have you ever found yourself playing Fallout: New Vegas and wishing the guns had a little more oomph to them in the animation department? If so, there's a new mod in town that's very much for you.

The appropriately-named New Vegas Animation Overhaul - Guns mod calls itself "the definitive first-person animation pack for guns" for both Fallout: New Vegas and the total conversion pack Tale of Two Wastelands.

The mod's creators say they've spent two and a half years working on it, and it replaces pretty much every New Vegas weapon's animation with a retooled version to add some extra immersion to your next trip to the Mojave.

This new Fallout: New Vegas mod is perfect if you're an in-game gun nut.

The mod was created by rockbiter68 and hitman47101, and it compiles several new gun animations created by both modders.

New Vegas Animation Overhaul - Guns covers 117 different weapon types, including basic weapons like the Marksman Carbine and the Silenced .22 SMG, as well as special weapons like the Li'l Devil and A Light Shining in Darkness.

It's pretty difficult to get across just how much of a difference the mod makes, but you can check out a trailer that shows off around 23 minutes' worth of new and improved New Vegas gun animations right here.

If you want to install the mod, you're going to need the kNVSE animation plugin, which allows you to install and use custom animations within New Vegas.

You'll also need the New Vegas Script Extender, otherwise known as xNVSE, as well as two ironsights mods: ISControl and Iron Sights Aligned. There's also a configurable FOMOD install in case you prefer to make all of this easier on yourself.

This mod comes as the world of Fallout enjoys a flurry of activity. The recently-released TV show has proven rather successful, with a second series already greenlit.

Additionally, Fallout 4 recently received a next-gen update that brings it to current-gen machines, as well as introducing new features and bug fixes to the PC version.

That update has been decidedly less popular with the community, however; it's broken many of the game's mods, and some of the most popular Fallout 4 mods right now are mods that remove or roll back the update.

Thankfully, that hasn't happened to New Vegas, so make sure to check out the Animation Overhaul mod if you want to put a little more pizzazz in your peashooter.
