Earlier this year, we found out that several League of Legends spinoff games were in development, and were to be published by Riot Forge. During The Game Awards tonight, we found out that Riot Forge's first game is Ruined King: A League of Legends Story.
This spinoff is made by Airship Syndicate, the developers of Darksiders Genesis and Battle Chasers: Night War, and published by Riot Forge, Ruined King is a story-driven, turn-based RPG. Players will take the role of several League of Legends champions.
Ruined King is said to take place in Bilgewater after Gangplank's death, as well as within the Shadow Isles. We see a hint of what appears to be Thresh's lantern in the reveal trailer, so this may indicate what is to come.

Quick Take
It feels like a lifetime since I last played League of Legends, but the lore was always something I enjoyed. It was never integral to the gaming experience, but I appreciated the world Riot created. With Ruined King, I'm actually looking forward to exploring the world rich with lore. I'm happy to see that Airship Syndicate is developing this title. They have a good track record thus far, so I have faith in them to deliver once again.
