Back in January, Paizo Publishing announced that they would be working with Gale Force Nine to make board games based on Pathfinder and Starfinder. This announcement included Pathfinder: Level 20, a darkly comedic board game with players taking on the role of kobolds trying to escape an adventurer on the cusp of hitting level 20, set to release at the end of April. The second of these titles is set in the publisher's sci-fi far future, Starfinder: Pirates of Skydock. Now, thanks to some recent announcements, we know a bit more about this sci-fi experience, what it's about, how much it will cost, and when it will be coming out.

These new Stardinder: Pirates of Skydock details come from an ICv2 article. In short, the game is a competitive spaceship heist. Two to four players race to see who can pull off the caper of a lifetime: stealing a top-of-the-line space vessel. Each player takes turns moving throughout the ship completing objectives. The more objectives you complete, the more support you get. Eventually, players willl develop their own strategies and playstyles on how best to complete their objectives and to play around their opponents. Whoever has the most support by the end of the game is declared captain. According to the report, the game is meant for players aged 14 and up, will take about 60-90 minutes to play, and will sell at an MSRP of $60 when it releases in retail stores this upcoming August.

Starfinder: Pirates of Skydock isn't the first time Paizo has adapted one of their TTRPGs. In addition to the well-received CRPG, Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, there was also the Kickstarter campaign for the competitive tabletop dungeon crawler, Pathfinder Arena. Paizo Publishing has also been promoting their partnerships with virtual tabletop platform Foundry, which will be the first platform to host premium content found in their Pathfinder Second Edition Beginner's Box.
