Remedy has revealed sales figures for survival horror sequel Alan Wake 2, and it's the studio's fastest-selling title to date.

Per an official announcementAlan Wake 2 sold a million copies by the end of December last year, and had sold 1.3 million units as of the beginning of this month.

According to Remedy, Alan Wake 2 sold "over 50% more copies and over three times more digital copies" within its first two months on sale than Control, the studio's last major game.

Since Control went on to sell over 4 million units across its lifetime (so far, of course), Remedy is hoping that Alan Wake 2 will generate similar long tail sales.

The studio says that "a great game" can generate sales for long periods of time, and it "expect[s]" this to be the case for Alan Wake 2.

Remedy's statement concludes with the studio reaffirming its commitment to developing two paid DLC expansions to build on the base game's story. Alan Wake 2 will, of course, also continue to receive regular updates like the ones that added New Game Plus and chapter select features to the game recently.

Remedy CEO Tero Virtala says that Remedy is "happy" with Alan Wake 2's sales, and that the game has already "recouped a significant part" of its development and marketing expenses.

Virtala also says that Alan Wake 2's success has contributed to the development of the studio's other ongoing projects, namely a sequel to Control, the mysterious Condor (which could actually be called FBC: Firebreak), and the upcoming Max Payne remakes.

According to Virtala, these projects will all reach "their next development stages" during the second half of this year, so you can expect to hear more about them in the coming months.

In the meantime, you can pick up Alan Wake 2 right now on PC via the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. You can read our review of the game right here if you want to know how the next chapter of Alan's story fares.
