Remedy has announced that it has lowered the minimum PC requirements to play survival horror adventure Alan Wake 2.

The studio says it's been working to optimize the popular sequel, which is Remedy's fastest-selling game to date, and that these optimization efforts have resulted in a lowering of the game's minimum PC specs.

Bear in mind that it's only the minimum specs that have been altered here, and that if you want to run Alan Wake 2 at Remedy's Recommended, Ultra, or Ray Tracing presets, you'll still need all the same equipment you did before this latest update. Take a look at the table below to see what's changed!

Hopefully, running Alan Wake 2 should be a little easier thanks to this change.

Before this update landed, Alan Wake 2 required at least an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 6600 to run.

Now, however, you can run the game with a GeForce GTX 1070 or a Radeon RX 5600 XT. Admittedly, the difference between these cards isn't colossal, but there are plenty of folks still running cards from before the RTX era, so it's nice to know they can get in on the action.

Of course, these new minimum system requirements still only target 30fps at 1080p, so if you want a smoother experience, you'll still need to upgrade. Still, it's not massively common for studios to lower the minimum system requirements for their games, so well done, Remedy.

Alan Wake 2's PC experience just got a little less demanding.

If you've missed out on Alan Wake 2, it's the long-awaited sequel to 2010's horror adventure Alan Wake.

Incorporating elements from Remedy's Control and its Alan Wake-associated DLC, the new game dovetails the stories of Alan himself, who's trying to escape from a nightmare realm, and FBI agent Saga Anderson, who's investigating his disappearance.

Since it launched, Alan Wake 2 has received a number of updates, with previous patches adding features like a New Game Plus mode and the ability to freely select which chapter you want to play.

Alan Wake 2 is available right now on PC via the Epic Games Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you want to know whether it's worth checking out, be sure to read our very own Jason Rodriguez's review here.
