V Rising Fishing Guide - cover

Our V Rising Fishing Guide will tell you how to unlock Fishing, how Fishing works, and the best places to find Fish, rare Hats, and more!

How to Fish in V Rising

You can Fish in V Rising by crafting a Fishing Pole at a Woodworking Bench. From there, you simply need to equip it, go to a Fishing location, and left-click on the pool of Fish to cast your line. When the water splashes, left-click again and you will reel a fish (or other loot) in as long as you're fast enough.

How to Unlock Fishing in V Rising

You can unlock Fishing in V Rising by defeating Rufus the Foreman in the Farbane Woods to unlock the Woodworking Bench and Finn the Fisherman in the Dunley Farmlands to unlock the Fishing Pole. This will allow you to make a Fishing Pole at a Woodworking Bench.

How Long Does It Take for Fish to Respawn?

Based on my testing, it takes anywhere from 6–48 in-game hours for a fishing spot to respawn, although there is no guarantee that a fishing spot will respawn within that window. There appear to be other factors at play here;- I've observed that some specific spots will not respawn for several in-game days. Rising Fishing Map

Best Place to Fish

The best place to fish depends on which zone of the map you're fishing in. Generally speaking, you'll want to go to areas with large pools of water and, ideally, away from the roads so as to avoid any enemy patrols out there.

As I've previously stated, it takes time for the fish to respawn. That means you won't be able to camp a spot indefinitely, especially if you're playing on a server with other players.

V Rising Fishing Guide - Fishing Drops

V Rising Fishing Drop Rates

These are the V Rising Fishing drops I've observed in my testing with small sample sizes after the Gloomrot launch but before the 1.0 release. This information should give you a good rough idea of what you can expect to find in each zone, although you shouldn't take it as gospel.

Based on my experience, you can expect to get items in these categories (with some variance in what you actually get depending on the zone). Bear in mind that these are estimates; it's unclear if gems, books, and hats are in their own loot table or if each individual item has its own separate percentage chance.

  • 50-60% chance of getting a Fish
  • 5-15% chance of getting metal Ingots
  • 10-15% chance of getting a gem
  • 5-10% chance of getting a Fish Bone
  • 5-10% chance of getting a crafting resource, such as Whetstone or Glass
  • 1-5% chance of getting a book with Crafting recipes
  • 1-5% chance of getting a Hat

We're all done with our V Rising Fishing Guide, but there's plenty more to learn about this game — read some of our other guides below!
